What happens if a person gets a proposal funded, gets an academic position, but not tenured?

Moral of the story: Try to get tenure by publishing a lot of junk papers first.

If you do not get tenure, try to get your way out from basic research as early as possible. Indusctry can be a good choice.

I met Roger Tsien a couple times before and after he got the Nobel Prize. He is a very humble man. He told me that he actually went out his way to look for Prasher and took him to some of the ceremonies. I do not know if Roger Tisen gave Prasher some money or not. Roger Tsien has a lot of funding now.
