Poppies and Thanatos: 罂粟花 10/20/2005 11:31

这张草图画了好几个小时。本来是一点儿注意都没有,胡乱画画。但罂粟花的原野用水彩画很费时间。对于如此强烈的色彩如果再画应该用油彩,至少会快一点。

为什么你的画里面总是不断地出现花和不完整的人体?是不是常常会做梦梦到这些场景?

没有啊,我其他的基本上都是完整的身体。上一幅是雕塑所以不完整。
这一幅是因大家对罂粟花和恐怖小说的论题而做的尝试。你看一下august的上篇日记和我的上篇日记就知其来龙去脉。

内容简介:
“我”的记事始于十三岁时一个下雪的早晨,十八岁的女仆桑吉卓玛让“我”第一次了解了男女之事,并从此成为“我”的贴身侍女。由于没有讨回背叛自己的一个头人的脑袋,麦其土司上省里告状,搬来了黄特派员。他使“我”们家拥有了一支“现代化的军队”,协助收复了叛变的寨子,打败了汪波土司。黄走之前,留下了一袋神秘的罂粟种子。第二年夏天,罂粟开出了绚烂的花朵,也使男人们的情欲空前膨胀了起来。麦其土司远足时看上了查查头人美丽的老婆央宗,于是设计让头人的管家多吉次仁以头人要造反为由杀了他,随后央宗被接进了土司家的大门。愤怒的土司太太让人杀了多吉次仁,土司却借机推说多吉次仁杀自己的头人是为了篡权,如今被自己识破,于是才杀了他。行刑的当晚,多吉次仁的老婆点着了已为土司财产的自己家的寨子,也把自己投入了火中,两个儿子逃出了土司辖地,伺机复仇。  这一年发生了地震,但罂粟却获得了大丰收。卓玛答应了银匠的求婚,由于罂粟种子绝不外传,麦其土司成了众多土司的仇恨对象,巨大的诱惑使领居汪波土司不惜派出三名武士去偷取种子,在送回来的三颗人头的耳朵里藏着珍贵的种子。我去领地巡行时发现了“耳朵开花”的秘密。于是,麦其土司与汪波土司之间又爆发了一场战争,麦其土司大获全胜,在战争中付出的唯一的代价是与麦其土司疯狂恋爱后已经失宠的央宗的孩子生下来就死了。  麦其土司日益富裕、强大。又一个播种的季节,大家为种什么争执不下,“我”认为应该种粮食,哥哥坚持种罂粟。土司采纳了“傻子”的建议。粮食大获丰收,而周围的土司由于贪恋罂粟曾经的暴利,发生了粮荒,麦其土司家的粮食又身价如金了。为了考验两个儿子,麦其土司分别让他们去负责边境上的粮仓。大儿子在频繁的战斗中丧失了武器与粮食,而“我”却用珍贵的粮食施舍拉雪贡土司饥饿的百姓,使他们投向自己,并且用粮食赢得了女土司漂亮绝伦的女儿塔娜,但让“我”痛心的是这个美人儿并不爱“我”这个傻子。“我”把粮仓一带逐渐变成了集市,开始做起了生意,银子、珍宝滚滚而来。在这里,复仇使者――多吉次仁的二儿子出现了,他的目标是麦其土司和大少爷。  “我”带着大量的财宝和美丽的妻子荣归家园,并得到了万人热烈的拥戴,却也在此时失去了土司的继承权。老土司决定逊位,宣布由大少爷继任。之后“我”的妻子也背叛了“我”,投入了早就对她虎视眈眈的大少爷的怀抱。  痛苦使“我”沉默,“我”从行刑人家里找来了死人的紫衣整日穿在身上,又恢复了“傻子”的面貌。仇人终于把刀子捅入了少土司的肚子里。看到麦其土司家走向败落,女土司又唆使女儿勾引年青的汪波土司。“我”又回到了一手创立的边境集市。黄特派员又来了,他带来了女人和梅毒,并成了“我”的师爷。“我”的塔娜回来了,但始终没能有自己的孩子,麦其土司也日益衰老下去了。远近的土司们纵情享受那些漂亮的女人,他们染上了闻所未闻的恶病。  罂栗花不再开了,漂亮的女人不再来了,土司也归入大地的沉寂,多吉次仁的大儿子终于向我举起了刀子。尘埃落定之际,我只希望自己的灵魂再度被托生在这块美丽的土地上。


"他当时就是这么说的――“我们的罂粟花”。

现在,我们都看清楚了,确实是使麦其家强盛起来的花朵。一共三棵罂粟,特别茁壮地挺立在阳光下,团团花朵闪闪发光。跛子管家布置好火力。我们才向那些花朵走去。那些暗伏的枪手开枪了。眶!眶!眶!眶!一共是四声敲打破锣一样的巨响。枪手们一定充满了恐惧,不然不可能连开四枪才叫我手下的人一死一伤。验毒师脸朝下仆到地上,手里抓了一大把青草。歌手捂住肩头蹲在地上,血慢慢地从他指缝里渗出来。我觉得是稍稍静默了一阵,我的人才开枪。那简直就是一场突如翡来的风暴。一阵枪声过后,树林里没有了一点声息,只有被撕碎的树叶缓缓飘落的声音。四个枪手都怕冷一样地蜷曲着身子,死在大树下了。

我想不起当时为什么不把罂粟扯掉了事,而要叫人用刺刀往下挖掘。挖掘的结果叫人大感意外。三棵罂粟下是三个方方正正的木匣,里面是三个正在腐烂的人头。罂粟就从三个人头的耳朵里生出来。只要记得我们把偷罂粟种子的人杀了头,又把人头还给汪波土司,就明白是怎么回事了。这些人被抓住之前就把种子装到了耳朵里面。汪波土司从牺牲者的头颅里得到罂粟种子!

汪波用这种耳朵开花的方式来纪念他的英雄。"

我读过这本书,但不记得此情节。也还没有见过罂粟花。

因为要从oz 那里得到牵牛花的种子,已经对来春抱着满怀美好的期盼。

谁给我几粒罂粟种子,明年也种在阳台上。 wink

让我想起茅盾文学奖的小说“尘埃落定”中罂粟种子从死人头里发芽生长的描写。

看来恐怖小说真的不能读啊,出于学英文的目的也不行啊。 frustrated

thank you. yeah, I don't quite like it either.

but it is simply a try and a study - from the aspect that art is a process - i don't think it is so bad.

however, i do realize that most of the time when I paint simply randomly based on senses - it often turned out better. When it starts from an idea or concept - i don't do well - i guess it is because I feel limited right from the start by the idea. So usually i try to free myself by thinking not to care too much about what I do next - just try and have fun - whatever.

this is one of the 'whatever's - it may not be very successful, nonetheless I'd like to share with you here the process.

as a process, i think this try gives me idea as how to improve it - if i have time, will try another piece tonight, without the heads.

To explain the process:
(1) I went to the museum last night, knew that i want to try a piece inspired by Alai's Red Poppies. But I don't have to as I had other ideas in mind that I am flexible to simply do some drawing. Then I came across these heads and I am very bad in drawing heads, so I thought it is good to practice. So it is different from the original idea of three 骷髅,i found three sculptures.

(2) When I draw the heads on paper, I didn't have any idea as how to paint poppies, no idea on color or composition.

(3) The drawing took over an hour. I came home and based on the position and color of the three heads, and tried to figure out what to be in the picture. I naturally thought about Tibetan landscape (because of the book by Alai) and added that in.

I appreciated your opinion. You passed two points:

(1) you think it is 神秘主义。
(2) you don't like 神秘主义。
The second point is valid in the sense that each person does have unique aesthetics, and we cannot force upon but are allowed to express.

The first point is where there is room for discussion or debate.
(1) You think it is mysticism and I am curious what makes you think/feel so?
(2) If you are willing to read the story of Red Poppies (August gave in his diary), or the Greek mythology or John McCare’s poem (I cited also in August’s diary), I am curious to know if you will still feel that it is mysticism?
(3) Or a more interesting point to discuss: is it because I give a Greek name, and poppies are associated with Greek Gods of Thanatos and Hypnos, that you think it is mysticism? To me, mythology is symbolism not mysticism

等的时间还不够长. wink

不care自然就甩掉了失败阴影这个包袱.但不要马上就去做什么,那样是因为你需要完成任务的责任这个压力包袱还没有甩掉.静下来试试什么都不想,看看能感到些什么.感到了什么还是不要急着去运用,你就能给灵感充斥了.
