Chinese tax payers 9/06/2008 18:20
The US treasure is selling off during the weekend after the bail-out news. The Chinese tax payer may not realize that a large portion of their tax that their central bank has "invested" on their behalf are now gone.

A corrupted official might embezzle millions, while an incompetent central banker can lose billions overnight. Who should go to jail?

Correct me if I was wrong

The US debt that China bought has underline interest rate. It doesn't matter the treasury bill sells off or hike up in the secondary market. So, China's money didn't loose nominal money.

My understanding is that: The treasury sell off means the interest rate may go up, so, there are better investment vehicles than the current treasury bill. Is this right?

买US treasure的重要目的是维持美元的双向流动和人民币汇率啊
你看现在人民币部分升值就引起的大批出口企业倒闭.

That's correct on the surface.

It is like I have one fish, and I sell you a bond that garantees you to eat the fish.

Now I said half of the fish is gone, but your garantee is still in effect. Should you feel happy or should you feel being doped?

It is very complicated indeed. But China is in no position to be the no. 1 holder of US treasure. China has just learned its lesson in a hard way.
