the BBC 9/27/2009 02:54
BBC有很多很好的节目。 但因为牌照缘故不能在美国播放。 所谓的bbc america其实是bbc, itv, channel4杂在一起的过期货。 bbc其实有个网上播放器可以看它所有的节目， 但你必须有british ip address. 我搞了半夜终于搞出了点明堂。 通过下面的instruction可以放它的节目。我特别推介 top gears, saturday morning kitchen, 还有match of the day. 特别是saturday morning kitchen, 记得读大学的时候是周六早上必看的节目。 煎两个蛋， 三根火腿， 加点red beans on toast, 然后边吃边看， 相像自己在吃美食。真的很傻。 Laughing


1. Download the addons for for FoxyProxy and GreaseMonkey.

2. Next we need to configure FoxyProxy to be used in Patterns mode so that when the request to get a particular URL from the BBC is made it is made via the UK Proxy. This URL contains the token to view the video.
3. From within FireFox select the Tools Menu then FoxProxy menu and then the Options Menu.
4. Click the Add New Proxy button
5. In the Proxy Name Field enter BBC iPlayer Proxy
6. Select the Proxy Details Tab
7. Select the Manual Proxy Configuration Radio Button
8. In Hostname and Port enter the Hostname and Port (and select if it is a SOCKS Proxy and version if using SOCKS)
9. Select the Patterns tab
10. Click the Add New Pattern button
11. In the Pattern Name field enter "BBC iPlayer Media Selector Pattern"
12. In the URL Pattern enter http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/*
13. Leave the WhiteList and WildCards radio buttons selected
14. Click the Ok Button
15. Click the OK Button
16. Go to http://www.darkedges.com/bbc/iPlayer.user.js
17. When prompted click the Install button to add the GreaseMonkey Script
18. Go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/ and select a video to stream
19. A preview image will show and and a white "Click to play" button should appear and now your should be able to view the video. First the ident appears and then the video, which is not streamed via the proxy.

英国风味不外乎两种。 一种是posh, upper class. 可以参考the dorchester and the grosvenor house. 那里的下午茶也是出名的。 地点也好。 park lane 就在hyde park旁边， 周围就是may fair, 很方便。 不过价钱不菲。 还有种就是cheap and cheerful, 就是那种没有空调的。 如果要找， 尽量找室中心象west end, covent garden那里。 其实我还是觉得后者比较让你有英国的感觉， 特别是狄肯丝笔下那个潮湿冰冷的英国。

你们的门都装锁的吗？我以前合租过两回，都是门上没锁的。

Sorry I have one more question... I'm looking at two hotel choices right now, which location is better for a tourist, near Aldgate East‎ or near Queensway/Bayswater tube station?

definitely queensway/bayswater. it's more convenient you can catch circle, district and central line on the tube. it's more upper class. lots of good restaurant in bayswater. check out magic wok or royal china for chinese if you are interested. high street kensington f, south kensington, and sloane square are really close by for shopping. aldgate white chapel is east london which is getting to the rough neighbourhood. it's on hammersmith line which isn't as reliable and there's not much there.
