David Petraeus Allegedly Had an Affair With His Biographer, Paula Broadwell

http://observer.com/2012/11/david-petraeus-allegedly-had-an-affair-with-his-biographer-paula-broadwell/

I looked at the wife, then I looked at the girlfriend, given the opportunity, would any man at his age be able to resist it?

She was old enough to know better
And she was strong enough to be true
And she was hard enough to know whether
He was smart enough to know what to do

And you can't resist it
When it happens to you
No you can't resist it
When it happens to you

And you can tell your story
And you can swear it's true
But you can save your lying
For some other fool

And you can't resist it
When it happens to you
No you can't resist it
When it happens to you
No you can't resist it
When it happens to you

Marriage begins with love and high hopes. Unfortunately the desire to cheat is a fundamental, and unconscious, part of our human nature. The good thing is not everyone will be unfaithful. According to a survey, roughly 50% of women and 60% of men will have an extramarital affair at some time in their life.

Some people believe this affair is a smoke screen of something bigger. Put this claim aside, I think 对这个优秀的西点,哈福毕业的美丽女人来说,能得到给P写自传,是个life changing opportunity. She didn't waste her secret weapon.

至于男人的婚姻生活,in my humble opinion and observation, 基本上有两个阶段。 第二个阶段,到了P的年龄,接近60的人,he most likely will have an affair and keep it secret. Unfortunately not all secret can be kept.

HaHa, you are right, the title of her book is "ALL IN". 对他来说,he should be the last person on earth to have an affair. Even Clinton did not have to resign over an affair. The CIA has tough rules for keeping mistresses because of dangers of blackmail or improper access for operatives. These dangers can lead to issues with national security.

It's unbelievable the affair was discovered by FBI probing his email. He should know better his emails do not belong to him, for crying out loud he is the head of CIA!

Her book's ranking on Amazon.com jumped from 76,792 on Friday to 111 by midday Saturday.

The story is getting even more hilarious. The woman accessed P's email and sent a threatening email to another woman, who didn't believe it was sent by P and reported to FBI. The other woman's identity has not yet been publicly disclosed.

http://news.21cn.com/social/wenhua/2012/04/26/11637131.shtml

Another news source is saying the harassing email was sent through Puala Broadwell's own email (not as previous reported, by accessing Petraeus' email) to another woman. After it was reported, FBI traced to her and found out the affair.

The 2nd woman is identified as Jill Kelley. Kelly and her husband, Scott, were longtime friends of Petraeus and his wife, Holly. Kelley was described as a “local concerned citizen who volunteers to help the military,” but it seems Broadwell may have viewed her as a possible rival for the general's affection.

Guess it is so true that smart people do stupid things sometimes. The moral of this story is: Don't ever let jealousy get the best of you.
Some fun comments for this case:

-I guess if Broadwell helped Clinton with his autobiography it could be entitled "I Blew It".

-People grow up and quit calling Petraeus a fallen hero. This man will alway be a hero because he saved american lives in Iraq and he showed valor in a time of crisis. Just because he had an affair does not mean he is now #$%$. Grow up people--- relationships are complex and sometimes we fall in love with more than one person. Obviously he did not mean or want to hurt those he loves, things sometimes just happen.

-This whole situation may be exactly as described, but I still have a nagging doubt that this all there is to the story. A man as intelligent and successful as David Petraeus should fully understand the potential for blackmail and scandal regardless of whether he is a General or Head of the CIA. I understand that a man (since I am one) only has enough blood to run one head or the other, but still.........! I still have a hunch there is a connection to the Benghazi issue. If there is, we will probably never learn about it from the MSM.

-I've known of three females who had affairs and two men. In four of the cases the other spouses were very abusive. There is always two sides to every story. I'm not going to pass judgement. Sometimes divorces can end up a lot nastier and have much more awful consequences than a spouse staying in a marriage. I was in a marriage for 15 years that was very very emotionally abusive. I've learned that until I have walked in another person's shoes, I am not going to be the one to comment or assume anything.

-OK.... bottom line, look at Holly and then look at Paula. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. And that's the name of that tune!

-Please, please, PLEASE, Mrs. Petreus...do NOT "stand by your man". He's a liar and a cheat and none too smart if he thought, in this day and age, he could get away with having a mistress. I'm sure you deserve so much more. Show some self-respect and dump him pronto!

-I am a general my wife was fat ugly and 50 years old, I will change her for two 25 year old as soon as I get the chance, ha ha ha ha

-Looks like Paula Broadwell sleep with Petraeus to gain inside information to write the biography books. Yet she turn around and harasses Kelley? It looks more like she planted to ruin Petraeus and everyone around him. Then she will get her publicity, the book, and all the interviews like Monica Lewinsky. We should have law allow the victim to sue for the damage those involve in an affair with a still married man/woman.

-I do not understand?? He had to resign from his job because he had an affair? What does anyone's personal life have to do with they way they perform their job? He had an affair...ok...its morally wrong but not legally. Who cares?

-I am laughing how America has turned upside down. A few years ago we had a president getting blowjobs in the white house, putting stains on a blue dress, convenient how liberals and the media covered that up and Clinton stayed in office.
Now we have general that is caught with a girl on the side and we want to to hang him.
Double standard if you ask me.

-Not for nothing, but Paula Broadwell does look like she can suck the golf ball out of a garden hose. She looks like she's a fun time in bed. I'm not mad at Petraeus, but at the same time, I do feel bad for his wife/family. The truth is, the wife is not leaving him. Shoot man, they're old...they probably haven't been "intimate" in many years. The General got tired of rubbing it out himself, so Paula was just helping him out. I'm not saying what Petraeus did was right...but as a man, I understand.

-Trouble is women have been "liberated" from their moral traditional roles but the same women insist that men remain "tied" to their moral traditional roles. Feminist hypocrisy?

-This woman is an unthoughtful evil person who had a devias plan to bring down the General. She wrote a book for god sake. This is a great example how god explains why men should flee women, especially one who is willing to sleep with a married man. All you women in this world need to stop being in denial......before you put men down think about the comment that I have laid upon you to read and understand. It wasn't Adam that was coerced by the devil....it was a woman named Eve, then after she bit into the apple she brought the man down to his knees, woman is the one who opened the gates of hell, and all men need not to forget this so "we can protect our selves as well as our families from such". The woman is good for man but the woman is the one that can bring a man unwanted issues and bad thoughts, if you want to be free from any then stay away from a woman and live for god....I have not yet met a woman who wasn't a liar! So before you woman want to call us pigs stop and think about your life and ask yourself who really is the PIG? Again let me remind you Eve was the one who first bit into the Apple....not Adam!!

For those who don't believe this is better than Tom Clancy, the FBI agent who started the email probe is now under investigation for sending "shirtless" photos to Jill Kelley before the probe started.

Jill Kelley's twin sister, a third pretty woman, may also have been involved in this saga.

We know that Paula and Jill are both married to medical professionals. Doctors out there, you may want to check up your wife in your spare time, if you have any.

Before David Petraeus, There Was Alexander Hamilton’s “Beauty in Distress”

America’s first major political sex scandal took place in Philly.

By Johnny Goodtimes 11/14/2012

Long before the salacious Petraeus scandal, there was America’s first major political sex scandal, which took place right here in Philadelphia. It was, as far as sex scandals go, every bit as titillating as this one.

Alexander Hamilton had been married to his wife Elizabeth (who had a white afro and man hands) for more than 10 years when a sexy, young, blue-eyed woman named Maria Reynolds arrived at his home in Philadelphia at 3rd and Chestnut in the summer of 1791. Reynolds was shown in, and asked if she could speak with Hamilton privately. She told Hamilton that she was destitute and needed money to get back to her family in New York. Hamilton wrote later that she was a “beauty in distress.” He told her that he would love to help, but that the current time and place were not “convenient.” (If you catch his drift. Wife was home and all.) So he asked if perhaps he could drop the money off at her place later that evening. Wink, wink. She acquiesced.

Hamilton arrived at Maria’s home at 154 South 4th Street later that evening with money in his pocket, his powdered wig glistening in the moonlight, and knocked on the door.

“I enquired for Mrs. Reynolds,” he later wrote, “And was shown up stairs, at the head of which she met me and conducted me into a bedroom. I took the bill out of my pocket and gave it to her. Some conversation ensued, from which it was quickly apparent that other than pecuniary consolation would also be acceptable.”

Excuse me while I pour ice-cold water on my crotch.

But things got messy, as they so often do in these libidinous affairs. Mrs. Reynolds’ husband found out about the affair, and decided that instead of getting angry, he’d get even. So he demanded $1,000 from Hamilton. George Washington’s right-hand man paid Reynolds, and decided to stay away from his wife. But Maria must have held some sort of irresistible lure over Hamilton, and several months later he resumed his visits, along with large sums of money paid to her john husband.

Later in 1792, Mr. Reynolds got arrested for illegal speculation. Not surprising, considering he was a con artist. While in jail, he passed along a note to Congressman Fred “The Mule” Muhlenberg that he had damaging info about the Secretary of the Treasury. Muhlenberg, in turn, passed along this info to Senator James “Sweet Jimmy” Monroe and Congressman Abraham “Abe” Venable, both political enemies of Hamilton’s.

Monroe, Venable, and Muhlenberg then went to see the handsome, well-dressed Federalist. Hamilton spilled the beans on the affair and the blackmail, but assured them that he had nothing to do with the shady financial schemes of Reynolds. He handed over all of the letters between himself and Maria. The anti-Federalists decided to drop the matter, and it seemed like it would never see the light of day. But long after the matter seemed buried, the notes of Hamilton’s meetings with the three men somehow found their way into the hands of Philly muckraker James Callender, who publicized the affair in his pamphlet, History of 1796.

Hamilton was furious at Monroe, who, he was convinced, had leaked the letters (Monroe was close friends with Hamilton’s chief rival, Thomas Jefferson). He challenged Monroe to a duel. It looked like two of America’s Founding Fathers were going to engage in bloodshed. Fortunately, Monroe’s second intervened and calmed both parties down. That second’s name? Aaron Burr. Seven years later he would put a cap in Hamilton’s ass.

Love, passion, murder, man hands. The Hamilton-Reynolds Affair makes the Petraeus-Broadwell Affair look like child’s play.

Vice President Burr later ran for governor in New York State, but Hamilton's influence in his home state was strong enough to prevent a Burr victory. Taking offense at some of Hamilton's comments, Burr challenged him to a duel and mortally wounded Hamilton, who died within days.

Hamilton's widow, Elizabeth (known as Eliza or Betsy), survived him for fifty years, until she died in Washington, D.C. in 1854; Hamilton referred to her as the "best of wives and best of women". Despite the Reynolds affair, Alexander and Eliza were very close, and as a widow she always strove to guard his reputation and enhance his standing in American history.
