People can change their skiing level gradually. Yes, we can.
The danger and difficulty depend on how one do it.
One should do it in right way.
It is impossible that one person can watch 20 beginners even in low mountain.

Of course safety is the first priority. But there are many ways we can advance our skiing level and protect ourselves well.

I suggest you doing the Dryway for many times this coming summer.

Just like rafting, some friends are never allowed to try Zoar-Gap.

I would suggesting advanced Skier going to Killington and after one week in Vermont, it is not good idea for beginner doing another big mountain. Not worthy it and dangerous idea. We have to realize something the beginner doing thing together and sometimes doing different things. Just for hiking, the advanced and the beginner can't hike together all the time, but it is OK sometimes.

This remind me similar while rafting. It is irresponsible act to push the beginner or MM to do river like ZoarGap. If bad thing happen, the organizer may get legal trouble no matter what.I remind everyone being conservative.

One word: it is great idea to form a small group to Killington for the advanced.

The comparison is not right.

Ski area should be compared to River.

The specific section of the river, like Dryway, should be compared to the Ski Trails. But not the whole mountain.

That's why there's Green/Blue/Black system in ski area. On top of the mountain, mostly, there's an easy trail come down and all skiers could enjoy the beautiful view -- That's what I like the most. Of course, beginner skiers/boarders should not try black trails before they are ready, and the first couple of try outs should go with experts.

Also, generally speaking, the bigger the mountain, the better the snow quality. It will make the new skiers/riders master the skills much faster.

My 2 cents.

You should understand people are total different and with diffent limitation.

You are not young and should understand it is so dangerous to treat evryone as the same.

Kurt, Thank you for your message. It's always good to have creative discussions.

I don't know which 高手 tells you that. When I was learning, the expert skiers tell me to go to the Big Mtns. And, personally, I benefited a lot from the big mountain trips in the learning stage.

To me, the most learning trips are these 2:
A. a 3 days learning programs in Smuggler Notch, Vermont.
B. a 8 days ski trips with 7 American skiers in Colorado.

Without that, I'll still be a blue trail skier..

Top-notch quality snow, wide open trails -- or, no trail at all, you can carve out your own trails !! --, better rental ski equipment, better ski patrol/coaches. These are just a few of the advantages of big mountain ski. Of course, there's much better scenary in the sky high...

That's true.

That's why I always encourage new skiers/riders to take multiple skiing lessons from the pros.

Even for me, I still want to take some lessons to sharpen my skills. 学无止境

去年到了Cannon Mt的山顶才发现没有刚买的鞋binding,本想走下山,但不断摔跤。后来ski Patrol 把偶拉下山了。现在想起还是蛮好玩的。
